I was wondering how many words there are that begin with “cat”. As it turns out – lots.
So a bit of fun this week. Here are a few words that begin with “cat” and a Clowders take on the meaning!
• Cataclysm – The result of one or more of your cats getting high spirited in your home at a time when you wouldn’t wish it, and when you’re not home – such as Christmas.
• Catacomb – The place under the duvet or bedspread that your cat likes when you’re trying to make the bed.
• Cataleptic – The reaction of your cat when they see the cucumber you have quietly placed behind them.
• Catalogue – The list of things your cat is going to do to you …. one day, in payback for your lack of worship and for taking them to the vet.
• Catalyst – The introduction of a new cat to the household, or the meeting of a friendly rival outside, and the activity that follows.
• Catapult – The act of scaling a 2m fence with grace and agility.
• Catastrophe – The result of your cat walking over your keyboard when you’re typing an email.
• Catatonic – Any drink but fresh water – often a puddle or a pond.
• Catcall – “Here kitty kitty” or any other pointless call to a cat, because they never listen to you anyway.
• Categorise – The list your cat makes of the food it actually likes, usually in order of price too – the more expensive, the higher up the list. By definition a short list, after all they are royalty.
• Catenation – When daddy cat and mommy cat try to make kittens.
• Catharsis – When non-cat people become cat people.
• Cathedral – The biggest room in the house which naturally belongs to your cat.
• Cathode – The shock you feel when your cat sneaks up on you while you’re asleep and inserts a sharp claw into some area of your anatomy to wake you up.
• Catwalk – The place in your house, usually a balcony or mantel piece where your cat demonstrates their total sovereignty over you.
Can you think of any more cat words?
